El jardín de Julio Julio's garden is a small private Mediterranean garden located on the coast 50 km north of Barcelona, Spain with a predilection for fuchsias. Its been many years since we visited Spain - the climate along the Mediterranean makes for lovely gardens - we must revisit this area before much longer.



Kew Gardens. are London's landmark Royal Botanic Gardens, An aerial map plotting the layout of the gardens gives the viewer an idea of the massive London presence of these gardens -- they cover nearly 300 acres from the River Thames to the Kew Road.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center formerly known as the National Wildflower Research Center. Touted as a national clearinghouse, the Cener is the brainchild of former first lady Lady Bird Johnson. The facility, in Texas, is both a botanical garden and a center to encourage public and private use of wildflowers.

In 1885, Ashbel Merrel Leonard started a nursery as a hobby in his backyard in Piqua, Ohio. Today A. M. Leonard employs some 60 people in a 50,000 square foot facility with a selection of over 3,000 tools for growers, landscapers, etc.

Maggie's Garden is a delight to behold. Maggie Ross who survived the transition from early childhood in the Cotswalds of England to the (I'm sure to her) Western Wilderness of Fort Worth, Texas has done marvels with her garden. I was particularly attracted to her opening page "Half the pleasure of learning and living amongst nature is the sharing and giving of our experience. This urge has driven me to record our garden lives in the form of a manuscript that is looking for a publisher. In the meantime, I look forward to giving and sharing with others, along the cyber path."

The banner photograph of the roses was taken in the small German community of Puerto Varas, Chile in January 1999. Puerto Varas is sometimes call "The City of the Roses" and it really earns its name - the roses, and indeed all the flowers, are beautiful. Of course, in January Chile is enjoying its summer although the daytime temperature at Puerto Varas did not get above 75 degrees F.
