Lois, the 15th child, was a brown-eyed beauty with dark brown hair. She's always been very shy and, as a teenager, older brother James, who worked at the Dollar Studio in Lake City, FL, often used Lois as a photographic model. These photos James placed in the studio window to attract business.

In 1945, after her father's death, 16 year old Lois and 13 year old Pete, the only children still living at home, and their mother moved to Lynn Haven, Bay County, FL. Several of H.W. & Irene's children had married and were living in Bay County, including Dorothy, Frances and, later on, Wid and Hazel. Many family members still reside in Bay County, FL.

After graduating from high school in Bay County, FL, Lois moved to Jacksonville, Duval County, FL, and lived with her brother, Hank, and his wife, Billie HAMILTON. Lois and her family would eventually settle in Jacksonville, along with brothers Hank and Pete and their families.
Riding the Greyhound bus from Panama City to Jacksonville, Lois met James David JOHNSON, the driver. Dave was a tall, handsome, 30 year old. He was born 6 August 1916 in Dupont, Clinch County, GA. Still single after serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, he once told daughter Vivian that he would never forget the moment he laid eyes on "the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my life." On 20 September 1948, Dave and Lois were married in Valdosta, GA. They remained married for 18 years and had five children: Douglas Daniel, Vivian Elizabeth, Joy Lanette, Myra Kay, and Jon David.
Dave drove for Greyhound Bus Company for many years and received numerous awards for safe driving. He later drove long distance transport trucks, employed by both Great Southern Trucking and Terminal Transport out of Atlanta, GA. In 1960, the family moved to Jacksonville, FL, where Dave was employed by Lois' brother, Hank, who had recently partnered with Ralph CLARK the incorporation of Clark-Hill Lumber Company. For the next six years, Dave hauled lumber throughout the south for Clark-Hill.
Lois and Dave were divorced in 1966. After divorcing, Lois remained in Jacksonville and raised her 5 children. Dave mostly lived in the Lakeland, FL area and continued driving transport trucks. In 1968, he suffered serious injuries and almost lost his life in a terrible accident near Asheville, NC. After several months in a hospital and then a rehabilitation center, Dave retired to Lakeland. He was no longer able to drive long-distance, and spent his remaining life driving a city bus in Lakeland. During spring training, Dave drove the team bus for the Detroit Tigers, and often drove charters to Cape Canaveral for NASA launches.

On 24 October 1981, at the age of 65, Dave died of a heart attack at his home in Lakeland, FL. He was buried in the North Cemetery, Dupont, Clinch County, GA.
