          The Sand Muller

This page is under construction. Details and explanations of the pics will be added later. The muller was built by Dick Kostelnicek of the Home Metal Shop Club of Houston, about 25 years ago. It is undergoing the repair of a leaky gearbox seal. The muller is getting a real workout with the development of H-Bond sand that I have been working on.

The picture below is not a muller - it's a sand mixer that is nothing more than a drillpress with a homemade blade. It does a decent  job of mixing some oil-bonded sands, but not all. The slowest speed that I can set the drillpress is about 240 rpm. That's a bit fast for mixing oil-based foundry sand. That's why I got the muller.
