Microsoft on Visual FoxPro @ Shop Microsoft
VFP has been dropped from Visual Studio .Net MS sites as main reason that it doesn't use the common language. This has sparked a great deal of debate most people are pretty optimistic about it. There have been discussions of this in the VFUG News Group, Mail List etc. discussions on UT and the WIKI site. There is also a petition on the WIKI site you may want to add your name too. http://www.stevenblack.com/wiki/wc.dll?Wiki~WillMicrosoftMarketVFP_Comments~VFP

Win2K OS Tip: this will appear in the next VFUG newsletter:
* WINDOWS 2000 PRO TIP: WHERE DID THE ODBC CONTROLS GO? (contributed by Doug
Toombs, doug@netarchitect.com) I've been working with Windows 2000 for more
than a year and writing about it for even longer. I've grown accustomed to
Microsoft moving things around in each new version, but some days I discover
things that stump me. Hardly a week goes by when I don't say, "Where the @#$%
did they move the such-and-such to?" The ODBC control applet is one of those
items. If you used to adjust the ODBC controls on your Windows NT systems,
you know the applet was always in Control Panel. So, you were probably a bit
baffled (as I was) to discover it's not in Control Panel anymore. Instead,
you'll find it under Administrative Tools. However, reader Keith Wedinger
emailed me with a way to get this little applet back in Control Panel. According
to Wedinger, if you navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Don't Load,
and remove the value for odbccp32.cpl, the Data Sources (ODBC) applet will
return to Control Panel. Sure enough, I tested it and it works perfectly.
However, within this tip is another tip--the use of the Don't Load Key. If
you have users who you don't want messing around in Control Panel, you can
use this key to hide things from them. For example, adding the value "appwiz.cpl"
as a string type with a value of "No" removes the Add/Remove Programs icon
from the system. For a list of Control Panel icons, simply search your system
for *.cpl. This technique won't deter users who are intent on doing something
they shouldn't, but it might keep a few people from poking around where they
shouldn't.
