Edward was born in Scotland. He went to County Antrim, Ireland and then to Pennsylvania. He lost his life in the French and Indian War in 1755. Tradition has it that he was killed at Braddocks Defeat while attempting to swim the river rather than surrender to the enemy. His son, Edward, was born in Pennsylvania March 6, 1756 several months after his father's death. We have no record of his wife's name or dates. The only information is that after her husband's death, and her son's birth she moved from Pennsylvania to Chester County, SC.
