He was Deacon, Meadow Creek Baptist Church in Sep 1845 in Wingate, Union Co. NC.876 Obadiah Sinclair was ordained a deacon by Hosea Preslar and E.L. Davis. This is the same church that Jacob and Frances Liles Little and her father David Liles and daughter Winney joined in May 1845. Other familiar names that belonged to this church were Thomas B. Stegall (baptized April 1845), Moses Stegall (1838), Thomas Stegall & William Hamilton (May 1836), Pleasant Stegall, and Enoch Griffin. Obediah's younger 5 children's names were obtained from 1850 census, but Oliver and William were provided by Sandra Elliott based on information from Vera Allen.
