Hosea PRESLAR28 was born on 30 Jan 1814 in Anson Co. NC.239 He was Meadow Creek Baptist Church Pastor in 1843 in Union Co. NC.876,1178 "Saturday before the third Sunday in August...we took a motion on Brother Prelars becoming our pastor and it carried unanimously."
He appeared in the census in 1850 in Burnsville District, Anson Co. NC.1175 Hosiah Preslar 36, Rody 32, Martha 15, Jensey 13, Elvira 11, Harriet 9, Joel 6, Alsey 4, Orrage 1. [NEED TO DEFINE SENTENCE: moved]28 Why did all these families moved to this area of TN? Hosea Preslar was a Primitive Baptist minister, both in NC and in TN, and wrote a book in 1867, in which he said: "One day, while in the field by myself, I got to looking over my prospects for the good of my family. My land was poor and but little of it, and I had a family of children I owed a duty to, and my health was now not good, and if I should be taken from time it seemed to me my family would suffer where they were; and the world was made to be inhabited, and there were better places, or at least better land in Tennessee, and cheaper, too, than it was there, and an impression of mind had led me there: and peradventure I would move there, I could get much better land than I had here, and could raise a support easier for my family and if I had to buy, provisions were cheaper there than here, and I would have a better chance to go and pray than I had here; and if I should be taken from my wife and children, perhaps I could settle them where they are now. So right then and there I came fully to the conclusion, if the Lord would, I would move to Tennessee.
"I began to make arrangements that way, setting the time to start some twelve months off, and got off accordingly, having spent about twelve years there in the ministry, and every brother and sister I had in the flesh (except one brother that was living in Tennessee at the time), with their families, my father and mother, moved at the same time, and we all landed safe, and settled not far apart; but left many near and dear friends behind. I selected me a home in Tennessee that I was well pleased with, and could raise a support for my family much easier than where I left. I settled in Henderson county, in the midst of poor people generally, the land broken, though a good deal of good bottoms on the little creeks, good water generally, and healthy." He died on 5 Apr 1887 in Henderson Co. TN.239 He was Minister and Farmer in Henderson Co.
