She was also known as Erron Elmons.1143,1144 Samuel supposedly went by the name of Elmore while he was interning in medicine. His mother-in-law, Caroline Slattery, is listed in the 1880 census in Pulaski County on page 542 along with Samuel and Julie's four children, Errin Elmons, age 15/13?; Lina 11, Henry 5, and Nellie 2. Henry and Nellie are listed as born in Ark, while the older two were born in SC. Caroline was 58 and born in SC. Her father was born in Ireland and her mother in Virginia.
The name looks like Elmons - not Elmore. Interestingly, only Errin is listed as Granddaughter; the others are just listed with no relationship shown. Parents: Dr. Samuel Wesley MURTISHAW II and Julie SLATTERY.
Harriet Frances MURTISHAW was born on 2 Jan 1884. She died on 25 Mar 1962 in South Houston, Harris Co. TX. I remember Aunt Hattie as a sweet fun-loving person. She often came and spent the weekend with us so she could go to Bingo at the local Catholic church. Aunt Hat made the best chocolate pie in the world and I loved it when she came to visit, because I knew she'd make me a pie.
I remember her as being very plump, white-headed, and having a round sweet face - almost like a female Santa Claus.

The man who was shot was Lee Nance. Many articles were written about this. Samuel with the help of Masons along the way went to Arkansas. Samuel changed his name to Elmont and studied under a doctor in Pine Bluff or Casa, supposedly named Ruff. Between 1870 and 1874 he was Physician in Dardanelle, Yell Co., Arkansas.1150 He died on 1 Jan 1912 in Jacksonville, Pulaski Co. AR.1151

W. D. MURTISHAW was born on 4 Apr 1905 in Jacksonville AR. He was ill with aneurism of the aorta in 1968. W.D. almost died at the time of the aneurism. It was already leaking when Dr. Joe Mock found it. W.D. was in so much pain from the surgery that he told Jane he would never go through something like that again - that he would just die the next time. He never was completely well after this surgery, but that could also be attributed to his enphysema and high blood pressure. W.D. had smoked two to three packs of Camel cigarettes a day until he quit cold turkey . When he quit smoking, he ate a box of chocolate covered cherries every day for quite a while. He died on 18 Jun 1974 in Houston, Harris Co. TX.608 W.D. was put in the hospital in Baytown in February with what they thought was a heart attack, but turned out to be a hietal hernia. He would come home for a few days but then have to go back because he continued to lose blood. In May he was moved to Herman Hospital in Houston. They operated to repair the hernia and found he had a bleeding ulcer. After the surgery, W.D. did not get better and the doctors eventually determined he needed another surgery. He died on Tuesday night after surgery on Monday. Parents: Dr. Samuel Wesley MURTISHAW II and Penina Collins BEALL.

Nash. Mary Ann Nichols provided a listing out of the Allen Family Bible which
gives the birth dates of all of the children of Donald Ross. Next to Donald's
son Hugh's birthdate she has "m Nancy Nash (d of Michael)." However,
I believe the evidence supports my placing Nancy Nash as the wife of Hugh Ross,
son of James Ross.
Hugh Ross made a deed of mortgage (Bk1, pg 203) to William Allen 15 April 1845
to cover the bond Allen had made for Hugh's maintenance of Mrs. Nancy Nash.
The deed references land adjoining Aaron Stegall, Jeferson Caudle, and William
Allen. He signed with a mark. The power of attorney that Hugh Ross (son of
Donald Ross) signed to Joseph Allen (Bk 10, pg 386) to sign for his share of
his mother Nancy Ross's dower was signed in Crawford Co. GA with a signature
- not a mark.
Our Hugh, the son of James Ross, is listed next door to Dugal Ross in Henderson
Co. in 1860. He has a wife named Nancy who is the right age to be Nancy Nash.

Green BeDexter NEISLER235 was also known as Dexter. Mother (Meryle Little Murtishaw) said Dexter was well known in the Abbot area. Dexter Neisler and his daughter Lucy lived in Will Little's house after his wife Monti died, according to Meryle Little. Meryle remembers that Lucy cooked for them. She does not know what the financial arrangement was. Meryle believes their was a family relationship between the Neislers and the Littles, but did not know what it was. As it turns out, if nothing else, Dexter's sister was married to Will's cousin.
The Neislers were very well known people and lived around Cross Roads. J.B.'s church, The Little Flock, was in Cross Roads. Cross Roads is about 2 or 3 miles from Abbot.
