Wes PRESLAR and Sarah Edney LITTLE were married on 10 Jan 1892.214,1029 Sarah Elizabeth (possible) LITTLE857,1030 was born between 1796 and 1799 in North Carolina.1031,1032 In the 1800 census, Isaac was listed with two females under 10. The eldest would have been Nancy, who was born Sept. 1794, so the next would have been born 1796-1799. She died in 1867 in Campbell Co. GA.1030,1032 Loyal says that she is buried at Bethleham Baptist Church Cemetery in old Campbell County, GA next to her son Emanuel. Marker says "mother" who was born 1801 and died 1876. In another place, her date of death is listed as 1886. However, if she was living in 1870, why was she not listed in the census with her husband Washington Teal? There seems to be no doubt that Sarah Elizabeth Little, wife of George Washington Teal, is the daughter of an Isaac Little of North Carolina. George and Sarah's son Martin Van Buren Teal asserted several different times that his mother's father was Isaac Little of North Carolina. He never mentioned his mother's mother. FamilySearch submittal by C. Teal Gravelle listed Sarah Elizabeth as the daughter of Isaac Little and Delilah Teal . Both Gravelle and Loyal Nethery have notes saying Sarah died in 1867 (at least one document has her dying in 1876). I originally had a problem reconciling this date of death with Delilah's 1853 warrant statement. I had interpreted Delilah's warrant statement to read that all her children were dead, but I now believe she was referring to Jacob Little and Danil Fones, who had written the children's names in the bible. Loyal Nethery has Sarah Elizabeth's mother listed as Kathy Humphrey. Parents: Isaac LITTLE and Delilah TEAL. Spouse: George
Washington TEAL. George Washington TEAL and Sarah Elizabeth (possible) LITTLE
were married in 1818 in North Carolina.1032,1033 Terry Teal was provided
information from the Sevier Co Gen. Society by Inga Sprowls. "In the 1911
AR Census of Confederate Veterans, MV Teal states that he was the son of George
Washington Teal of Abbeville SC, who lived in Campbell Co., GA and died in Pauldin
Co. NC ( Paulding Co., GA). GW Teal was the son of Emanuel Teal and wife Sarah
Elizabeth Little who lived in NC and moved to Henry Co., GA. His grandparents
on his mother's side was Isaac Little and all were raised in NC. "

Since neither Sarah Elsey nor Mary Penelope are mentioned in their father's will, it is fairly certain that they are both deceased. Children were: William WILKERSON, Sally WILKERSON. Sarah Margaret LITTLE was born on 10 Feb 1861.10 Annie Lee Traywick says she was on the 1870 census as 10 years old, but was not on the 1860 census. Annie says there was a death notice in the Monroe paper (Aug. 3, 1878; don't know if that was day of death or date of notice). He died of consumption. His parents were Isaac & Susan Little (again, I don't know if this was in the notice or not). I think the cemetery is on Hwy 105 out of Marshfield abt 1 mile beyond Fairfield. Thomas LITTLE137 was born about 1696 in Surry Co. VA.1041 One Ancestral File lists him as a son of William and unknown wife along with all the other children. The second (AFN: ZMT0-3D) had him son of William and Martha Parnell and born abt 1692. Thigpen states that William Little had sons named John, James, and Thomas who all married Blackfords. Of the three, only John was mentioned in William's will. James is listed as a son of William and Mary Parnell, while Thomas is never listed as a child of either wife. Since he, like James, was not numbered with the children of William and Elizabeth and neither are listed in the will, I believe he must be a son of William and Martha. A Thomas Little lives in the general area where William settled in Beaufort/Pitt Co. NC and the families occasionally have land transactions together. I have that Thomas listed separately. Parents: William LITTLE and Martha PARNELL. Spouse: BLACKFORD. Thomas LITTLE and BLACKFORD were married.137 Thomas LITTLE792 was born in 1700.1042 He owned Received patents between 1735 and 1743 in Beaufort Co. NC.1043 Thomas Little received the following patents between 1735 and 1764 (Item 1996, Pat. Bk. 5, pg. 10) 4 Oct 1735, 640 acres in Edgecombe, joining the S. Side of Conito Creek (Item 2592, Pat. Bk. 5, pg. 166) 2 Oct 1741, 150 acres in Beaufort County upon N side of Pamplico and SW side of Tranters Creek upon both sides of Main road leading from Tuskarora to Bath Town, joining the Swamp of Tranters creek and crossing the Long Causway. 18 Nov. 1738, Richard CHEEK, received a patent (Item 3870; Pat. Bk 8, pg 7) for 640 acres on the N side of Pamplico River, joining (a point) near Thomas Little, John Lee, and the River Bank. James Cheek sold land in 1755 on Cheeks Creek in Beaufort Co. to William Little of Surry Co. VA. (Item 2597, Pat. Bk. 5, pg. 167) 11 Nov. 1743, 400 acres in Beaufort County on the N. side of Pamplico river and on the NE side of Ceneto's creek. (Granville District, 1748-1763; Vol. IV; Item 371: Misc. Land Office Papers-NC State Archives) 17 March 1760, entry by Thomas Littel for 100 acres in Beaufort County on the Wolfpit branch and along Pilkingtons Line to the Gum Swam thence along the Gum Swamp towards the County Road for the Complement. (Item 372) 17 Mar 1760 Thomas Littel to James Ellison to survey 100A in Beaufort Co. beginning at the Wolfpit branch and ... (same as previous one). (Granville District, 1748-1763; Vol. I; Item 268, Patent Book 11, pg 58; Thomas Little, 3 March 1761, 145 acres in Beaufort County in St Thomas Parish, joining Seth Pilkington, a point near Gum Swamp, ...W side or wolf Pitt Branch. SCC: Josiah Little, John Little, Jas Ellison Sur (Granville District, 1748-1763; Vol. III; Item 4333, Patent Book 6, pg 86: Thomas Little 7 Nov. 1761, 695 acres in Pitt County on the South side of Tranters Creek and on the N side of Grindal Creek, joining Thomas Littles old Corner, Littles other corner by the main road, the Gum Swamp, the Beaver dam Swamp, and the sd Tranters Creek above Roses's hole. SCC: Josiah Little, George Little, John Spier Jr. Survr A Thomas Little (not likely the same one) is also listed as an adjacent land owner to John Pindar in Craven County 29 Nov. 1760 [Item 5599, Pat. Bk 15, pg 315]. Richard Spaight is also mentioned. This Thomas Little received a patent 23 Oct. 1761 for 75 acres in Craven County on the N side of Neuse River and on the head of Dawsons Creek, joining Whitleys Line and a point near the Run Side [Item 5845, Pat. Bk 15, pg. 368] He died in Feb 1764 in Pitt Co. NC.1044 Thomas Littel deeded 150 acres each, part of a tract granted to him 7 Nov. 1761, to his sons Josiah and George 15 Feb. 1764. His will was probated in Feb. 1764, with Joseph Littel & James Littel executors . The deeds were obviously a deathbed transfer and even the signature seems to testify to his poor health. At one point, I thought this Thomas Little might be a brother of our William Little who died in Beaufort Co. in 1755. However, DNA testing has proven that the two lines are not connected. As discussed in another note, Thomas Little received patents in Beaufort County in 1741 and 1743. He is mentioned as an adjacent land owner to Richard Cheek, in the same area where William Little locates in 1755. In the 1762 Pitt Co. NC tax list, there were only three Littles: Isaac, Joseph, and John. In 1763, Thomas Little was listed as a taxpayer. He also paid taxes for James, Josiah, and George Little. In 1764 Pitt Co. NC tax list, there are several Littles. Thomas Little is gone. Josiah, James, and George are listed together with Josiah listed as the head. Josiah's name is followed by what looks like "Counstable." One negro is counted. A 1785 Pitt Co. deed lists Josiah Little with a Patent dated 1735, Thomas Little, brother of Josiah, and John Little son of Thomas Little. This would seem to indicate that the Thomas Little listed above had a brother named Josiah and a son named John. Parents: Living. Children were: John LITTLE, James LITTLE, Josiah LITTLE, George LITTLE. |
