James LITTLE was born between 1795 and 1802.315 Based his age on being minor in 1816 but not listed under the guardianship of Noah Little. I am guessing he was between 14 and 21. Parents: Exum LITTLE and Elizabeth THIGPEN.

James LITTLE was born about 1833 in North Carolina.811 Parents: Elisha LITTLE and Martha TYSON.
James "Jimmy" LITTLE893 was born about 1810 in North Carolina.518 He appeared in the census in 1840 in Anson Co. NC. While I am far from certain that the Jas Little listed in the 1840 census is this James Little, it certainly looks like a good possibility. Jas. Little is 30-40, with 1 male 5-10, 1 male under 5, 1 female 20-30, and 1 under 5. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Union Co. NC.518 James Little was listed as 40, $300 real estate, and born NC. With him were Sarah 38, Sophia 16, George W. 14, Susan E. 12, Edmond D. 10, Emeline 6, James W. 3, Harvey F. 1 month and John Watts 28, Laborer. Two households away was Ennis Staton. Two pages earlier were Wm. S. Phillips, Cullen Curlee, Charles Griffin, John Helms, and Jacob Mullis. He appeared in the census in 1860 in Henderson Co. TN.750 James Little was listed in Henderson Co. with a family of 9. George W. had apparently already moved out. He appeared in the census in 1880 in Henderson Co. TN.894 James Little was listed as a farmer from NC, whose parents were born in NC. With him were Susan E. 35, daughter, Mahaly E. 35, daughter, and James Holmes, 8, grandson. Next door was Wm P. Little age 27, and wife Priscilla J, age 24. He was buried in Center Hill Cemetery, Lexington, TN.33 NOTE: The connection to Isaac Little is not proven.
James Little is said to be one of the earliest settlers in Western Tennessee. A Henderson County Times article about Center Hill says that Wilson Cager Grissom came there from North Carolina in 1825. They state that Jimmy Petty, Taylor Thomas, Jimmy Little, and Hosea Preslar all came soon after. However, Jimmy Little and Hosea Preslar were still living in Union Co. NC in 1850, and it seems likely that they migrated to Henderson Co. along with the group that likely included Theophilus Holmes, Dugal Ross, and other families from Union and Anson Co. NC.
Wayne Little, in our visit May 1999, said that James was the brother of our Jacob Little (father of David L. Little). He was told this by his grandfather and father.
Recent DNA testing strengthen's the tie of Jimmy Little to our line. Randall Little descends from Miles T. Little. His DNA matches 24/25 to my cousin Harry Little's DNA. Based on the DNA testing, I believe that Jimmy might have been a son to Isaac & Delilah Little. I have not been able to find anything on any of Isaac's (brother to the senior Jacob Little) children except the oldest daughter and Michael Little.

James Buchanan LITTLE was born on 2 Apr 1857 in Olive Branch Section, Union Co. NC.52,882 Newspaper article provided by Nettie says he was born in Olive Branch section before his father moved to Lanes Creek. He died on 20 Oct 1949 in Hickory, Catawba Co. NC.726,896 Obituaries, obtained from Nettie Sexton, are dated Oct. 20, but year is missing. Both (probably one from Catawba Co. and one from Union Co.) say he was 92. The Union Co. obit lists survivors, including brothers J.T. Little of Pageland SC and S.P., Little of Monroe, and sisters Mrs. Henry Presson and Mrs William Johnson of Monroe and Mrs. W.M. Howard of Pageland. He was Dentist.733 The Oct 1943 Monroe County arrticle said "Dr. Little has been a member of the North Carolina Dental Society for 59 years." "He began his practice in Monroe with Traywick and Stephenson, and after completing his education, located in Newton in 1884. Twenty-five years ago he shifted over to the adjoining town of Hickory..." He was Methodist in Hickory, Catawba Co. NC.896 Obituary says he was a member of the First Methodist church and a steward. He was also a Mason and Shriner. James and Daniel are listed as children of Jacob Sr. in the Little Bit.

Jane Little witnessed the will of Benjamin Bell, along with Jacob Little, 16 May 1751. If this was the same Jane, she must have been at least 16, which would make her born before 1735. Parents: William LITTLE and Morning (LITTLE).

She died in 1832 in Edgecombe Co. NC.16 Her will, Jan. 1, 1833 (no probate date), nephew Jacob Vines Little lend 2 negroes, reversion to his heirs. If no heir, reversion to nieces: Sarah Walker, Frances Cutler, Jane Alligood, Louisa Naron. Brother Nahum Little, 1 negro reversion to his heirs. Wit. Jordan Knight, F.D. Jennie LITTLE died in aft 2-4-1966. Rev. I.B. Little's obituary listed two living sisters: Mrs. Jennie Little Davis of Peachland and Mrs. Belle Little Sinclair of Marshville. Jennie, Belle, and Ira were not listed in Lib Phillips' list of Bryant's children. Parents: Bryant LITTLE and Perilla Jane MANESS.

Jesse LITTLE.661 Grace does not have proof that Jesse's father is Edmund. Jesse is her ancestor. "One piece of circumstantial evidence is that Lucius, the son of Gray Little from Marengo County, and James Gray, the son of Jesse Little, both wound up in Pearsall, Frio County, TX , at the same time." Jesse LITTLE16 died before 1787.16 The Thigpen Tribe speculates that Jesse had died before Jacob Little made his will since he was not listed in any of the wills (Jacob, Jane). However, none of Jesse's children were mentioned in Jacob's will, so he might have still been living then. Parents: Jesse LITTLE and Frances ALLIGOOD.

Jesse LITTLE676 was born before 1757. He appears to have been an adult when he was mentioned in his father's will. When he died in 1787 he had 5 children, so it is likely he was at least 30. He died in 1787.676 The Thigpen Tribe calls Jesse the oldest son of Jacob, but Jacob left nothing to his heirs which seems rather odd. Parents: Jacob LITTLE and Mary (LITTLE).

He had property on Tarr River opposite the mouth of Town Creek. He died about Aug 1825 in Edgecombe Co. NC.354 Will dated October 11, 1824 was probated Aug 1825, Book F. p 42, Edgecombe Co. NC. Wife Frances (Dinkens) plantation whereon I live, also tract lying on Cheek's Creek bought of Samuel Williams, Extr. of Col John Donason, dec'd, 1/2 my "sein" place on Tarr River opposite mouth of Town Creek, 11 negroes, to revert to chil., and all residue. Son: John A.? all property I have possessed him of except plantation whereon he lives, which I give to his chil. at death of my wife Frances; all money he owes me and I desire the bonds to be given up to him by my Exrs. According to The Thigpen Tribe, his Will was found in his desk by Cullen Little, his cousin (son of Abraham). The Thigpen Tribe lists Jesse as a son of Abraham and Amy. He is the 3rd son of 4 listed in Abraham's will. Parents: Abraham LITTLE and Celia (LITTLE).

He showed no poll, meaning he was either younger than 21 or older than 45. He was living in 1858/59 in Henderson Co. TN.907 In 1860 census, the youngest child is 5 mos, b TN. Mary, age 2, is b NC. Little of North Carolina. It mentioned sisters Elizabeth S. Dunn, wife of James B. Dunn of South Carolina and Nancy D. Baucum, wife of Alfred Baucum. One slave, by name of Peter, was listed. The Executors were William C. Eskridge and A. D. Greene. Witnesses were J. A. J. Askew, S. F. Marsh, John A. Fox. The will was signed 3 January 1860 and is recorded in Will Book A, p.193. He owned Received Lot No. 3 in Jan 1860 in Union Co. NC.108 John and William Lytle received portions of the land of Hosea P. Lytle's deceased. Neither is referred to as a minor nor were they living at home with Hosea Sr. in 1850, so they are likely older sons of Hosea Sr. and brothers to Hosea P. Parents: Hosea LITTLE and Mary GREEN.
