Maness LILES was born on 3 Mar 1798.611 He appeared in the census in 1840 in Henderson Co. TN.641 This Maness Lysles is 20-30 in 1840 so is probably not the same man? This Maness could be an elder son of Anderson Liles. Perhaps Maness married Mary Permenter? Found the following query on the Anson Co. page July 1998. Permenter lived near David Liles.
Would like to find additional information on the following two daughters of James Permenter
(ca.1780-1843) of Anson Co.:
Elizabeth Permenter b. ca.1805 m. Amos Liles
Mary Permenter b. ca. 1812 m. Manor (or Manas) Liles
These two daughters & their husbands are mentioned in the James Permenter Division, dated Jan. 1844, and Division of the Lands of James Permenter dated Jan. 1845, Anson Co. land records.
I have seen reference to two daughters named Patsy & Polly but cannot determine which of these nicknames applies to which daughter.

Sylvester LILES was born on 9 Oct 1854. He was living on 20 May 1897.114 S.N. Liles is mentioned in David's will; I am assuming it refers to Sylvester. The CGS article lists his wife as Jane Williams; but it also listed her as the wife of his brother Jesse Liles without commenting on both being married to same person or person with same name.
The Mullis Melange has his date of birth as 1844. Parents: David Nowell LILES and Jane Baxter MULLIS.

NC.643 Travis Liles was listed on page 82 with one male 30-40 (b 1800-1810), one female 40-50 (b 1790-1800), one male 10-15 (b 1825-1830), one 5-10 (b 1830-1835; David), 2 under 5 (b 1835-1840; Dennis and Henry), and 2 females 5-10 (b 1830-35; Elizabeth and perhaps Mary).
Joel was on listed on pg 79, Maness and Mary (widow of ?) on 89. Sanford Liles was on 83. He appeared in the census in 1850 in Union Co. NC.644 Travis was listed as 38, farmer, $200 real estate, and could not read or write. Permelia was 29 and could not read or write. David (can't read middle initial) was 16, Dennis 14, Elizabeth 14, and Henry 13. All four had attended school within the year. Mary A. was 11, Matilda 3, Nancy C. 2, and James V. 5/12. Parents: David LILES and Nancy NOWELL.

Francis Little was allowed the sum of $27 dollars for the same Winney Liles. In 1850 census for Carroll Co. TN, Winnie was listed as 36, insane, and pauper in household of Joel. Frances went to court several times in 1850 to get money for her and Joel went at least once in 1851. Parents: David LILES and Nancy NOWELL.

LITTLE. Benjamin G. Little made a will Jan. 7, 1847, in case he did not return from the army. He named William E., Jesse C., Sarah E., Lawrence D., Mary A., and Margaret A. Little to have his estate and named his uncle Eaton Cobb as Executor. Witnesses were Jno. G. Williams and L. Williams.
Eaton Cobb was a witness to the 1827 will of Sylvia Gray, relict of Gray Little. I have not thus far determined what the relationship of these Littles is to our lines. Gray Little has three sons who named sons Benjamin and William.

(Sarah) Elsey LITTLE16,647 was born on 17 Dec 1780.648 She died on 16 Jul 1832.648 Thigpen Tribe lists her as Saray Elsey Little who married James Thigpen VI of Penny Hill. If she was born in 1780 and Gray Little was born in 1740, it is unlikely they had the same mother. Parents: William LITTLE and Elizabeth THIGPEN\LAROCHE?.
