NC.524 Obituary provided by Nettie Sexton does not provide date of death, but does provide date of birth and age at death. Her husband, sons Tommy and Maurice of Pageland, one sister and one brother are listed as survivors. She was buried in Smyrna Methodist Church, Union Co. NC.524

Hezekiah HOUGH died before Oct 1817. Will probated in Oct 1817 listed Nancy Ross. A will from James Hough probated May 1821 also listed Nancy Ross, along with Hezekiah Ross.

Nancy HOUGH was born on 8 Mar 1775.347 She died about 1841 in Anson Co. NC.347,525 A death date of 15 Jul 1842 was in the info provided from the Allen Bible (which I have not seen). It seems highly questionable based on the deeds referencing Nancy as deceased.

Hugh Ross of Crawford Co. GA gave his power of attorney to Joseph Allen (Anson Bk 10, pg 386) to sign for the conveyance of his portion of the "estate of the said Nancy Ross deceased" on 29 May 1841.

Hezekiah H. Ross sold his 1/4th share of the 136 acres of dower land of Nancy Ross decd to Joseph Allen 20 October 1841. The land is described as being on the waters of Cowpen Branch adjoining the lands of Clement Birmingham, Cary Bennett & Lindsey's line

On 4 December 1841, Joseph Allen & wife Nancy and Joseph Allen for Hugh Ross sold 160 acres on the waters of Cedar Creek, beginning at the 3rd corner of the dower laid off for Mrs. Nancy Ross to Clement Birmingham whose line was adjacent. Lindsey's line is also mentioned in this description (Bk 10, pg 380) Parents: Hezekiah HOUGH.

Nancy Jane JOHNSON536 was born on 4 Feb 1851 in TN.537,538 1900 census lists Nancy Jane, wife of Dugle, as born Feb 1851. Both parents from TN. She appeared in the census in 1900 in Henderson Co. TN.539 he 1900 census listed Nancy as the mother of 9 children, with 7 of them living. It also stated she had been married 20 years. The oldest of her six Ross children living at home was 20 at that time and the youngest was 9. She was living on 16 Jan 1901 in Stegall, Henderson Co. TN.540 In her penison application, Nancy Jane stated that her residence was Stegall street in the County of Henderson, State of Tennessee, with post office address of Stegall, Tenn. There is a Stegall Road running between Hwy 22 and Center Hill, just below Pine Lake. It is 2 to 5 miles from Middle Fork, which was the Post Office listed for Dugall in the 1890 Veterans' Census. She died on 7 Mar 1913 in Henderson Co. TN.537 Inscription on Nancy's marker at McBride Cemetery near Sardis says NANCY J; WIFE OF; W. A. McBRIDE; & D. W. ROSS; BORN; FEB. 4 1851; DIED; MAR. 7 1913; What is home without; a mother. Next to Nancy is the marker for W.A. McBride. His marker says McBRIDE; W.A. HUSBAND OF; N.J.McBRIDE.; BORN 1846; DIED 1878; Dearest of the nur (cannot read the remainder as it is broken off She was buried in McBride Cemetery, Sardis, Henderson Co. TN. Cemetery located on Sardis-Enville Road According to Pearl and Floss Veteto, Nancy's maiden name was Johnson. This is confirmed by Silas Ross's death certificate and William Rilie Ross' application for a Social Security number.

TN.541 According to Nancy's pension application, they were married July 9, 1879 in the home of her father near Sardis TN; the marriage certificate from Hardin Co. states July 9, 1879. Dugall's statement, made on Aug 4, 1898, stated that they were married July 9, 1880 in Hardin Co. by Hosea Preslar. J. N? Allen and J. G. Johnson stated "that they were both present and saw said Dugall W Ross & said claimant married.
