Richard GRIFFIN was living before 1789 in VA.70 According to the Griffin Family History, Richard moved to Anson Co. after his wife died in Virginia in 1789 and spent the rest of his life in the home of his son Thomas. He died about 1795 in Anson Co. NC.70 Martha Little note, dated 10-14-96, states that Thomas Griffin married Mary Elizabeth Mullis, Thomas' sister married Elizabeth's brother Solomon Mullis, and his brother David Griffin married Elizabeth's sister Theodosia Mullis. I had listed Solomon Mullis and Mary Jane Griffin as parents of Jane Mullis who married David Nowell Liles; apparently got this fact from The Mullis Melange. We also have Mary Elizabeth and Thomas Griffin as children of Richard Griffin. Thus, if all are correct, David Griffin is also a son of Richard Griffin.

Thomas GRIFFIN71,224 was born on 9 Mar 1764.71,224,292 The DAR application of Jo Ann Roth Taylor has Thomas Griffin born 9 March 1764 at Edgecombe Co. NC and died Union Co. abt 1833. The DAR application of Mrs. Foy Grisham also has the birth date as 9 March 1764 and died aft 1833.
In the 1800 census, page 221, Thomas Griffin is 45+, with 2 males 16-26, 2 males 10-16, 1 female 26-45, 1 female under 10. Nearby is Obadiah Curlee and wife age 16-26, Charles Griffin 16-26, David Griffin 45+ This would make Thomas born about 1755 or earlier.
The Monroe Enquirer article has Thomas born about 1750 in Essex Co. VA.
[NEED TO DEFINE SENTENCE: moved]457 "..after the American Revolution when Thomas Griffin and Elizabeth Mullis loaded their belongings and children on a wagon and headed for North Carolina. Whether John Mullis came with Thomas Griffin and Elizabeth Mullis is not certain." He died about Sep 1807 in Anson Co. NC.458 Thomas Griffin's will, dated 16 Dec. 1806, lists wife Elizabeth, son Enock, dau Sally Griffin, dau Mary Trull and Franky Curlee. Two sons Charles Griffin and Thomas Griffin executors. Witnesses were Solomon Mullis, Jacob Little, and David Griffin.
Some researchers have him dying in 1795 and list children Charlie, Nancy (Brewer or Barnes), and Frankie Curlee. But Thoms Griffen Sr deeds land to Thos Jr, John, Amos, and Chas on Dec 15, 1806. His will was proved Oct. 1807 Session of court. The Monroe Enquirer article said that "Thomas Griffin and Elizabeth Mullis, both born ca 1750 in the area of Essex County, VA., or were living there where Elizabeth's father, John Mullis b about 1720 operated a mill on the Rappahannock River until after the American Revolution when Thomas Griffin and Elizabeth Mullis loaded their belongings on a wagon and headed for North Carolina."
On 12-15-1806, Thomas Griffin deeded land to Thomas Jr, Amos, Charles, and John. Deeds provide indication that are all sons of Thomas.
The History and Genealogy of the Thomas Griffin Family, cited elsewhere, lists the children of Thomas and Mary Elizabeth and provides names of their spouses.
Mrs. Gresham's application claimed that Samuel and Thomas Griffin (Thomas being the ancestor of our Thomas) " came from Wales to America before 1761 and settled on the Rappahanock River in Virginia. They were descendants of Llewellyn as Griffith last Prince of Wales..."
