He died on 2 Apr 1879.381 According to the story reported by Beth Warren Collins, James committed suicide on the side porch by the kitchen door (of the house in Anson Co.?) She said "Troy's wife, Grandma Catherine Pritchard, always told the story that the boards on the porch had to be turned because the bloodstains would not come out. He was 75 years old and was not in his right mind and used a rusty knife to kill himself." Martha Little provided information that James is the younger brother of Matthew Edwards and both are children of John Edwards and Sally O'Neill. This is Martha's husband's line.
