In 1968 a team of investigators published in the American Heart Association journal, Circulation, a study conducted at the Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas during the summer of 1966. All the original investigators went on to have successful careers in their research fields. One investigator eventually became president of the medical school, another dean of Dartmouth Medical School. The 1966 authors were:
