Geeta Dhâm

For several years, His Holiness Paramhans Shri 1008 Swami Hari Har Ji Maharaj did not accept any donations. Then in 1990, Swamiji came to the conclusion that, inspite of the comforts provided by huge advances in technology, mankind has not achieved peace of mind. Mankind suffers due to three reasons, all related to family relationships:

Lack of moral values among the youth,
Lack of family cohesiveness, and
Lack of holistic approach to healthy lifestyles.

From this insight into Human Nature, combined with Swamiji's life long goal of spreading the message of Srimad Bhagavad Geeta, the concept of Geeta Dhâm was born. The concept became a reality when a maha devotee donated 84 Acres of land 40 km from Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India. Geeta Dhâm will address these issues by providing education to children, a home to the aged and a holistic approach to good health by the use of ancient doctrines of Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation. A free eye camp will be held twice a year to serve the needy.

Phase 1 was completed in 1994, consisting of

Gurukul - A unique boarding school that will bring back memories of the famous Universities at Nalanda and Taxshila. Each student will go through the Vedic samskaras. According to Manu Smriti each and every individual must go through these purificatory ceremonies in order to shine both physically and spiritually.
Gaushala - To provide healthy food and herbal ingredients for holistic medicine. Our scriptures have always emphasized the purity of food. "Aahar shudhow, satav shudhie, satav shudhow, dhruva smriti." meaning "Good memory and purity of thought are indeed closely related to purity of food."
Retreat - Cottages, with modern facilities, to provide a retreat for devotees.

Phases 2 and 3 will include a home for the aged, an 18 story building, with each floor named after each chapter of the Geeta. Slokas will be written over the walls with pictures. On the top of the building there will be an ever-revolving chakra of Shri Lord Krishna. There will be a big Sarovar (moat) in front of the building with a Radha Krishna temple in the center.

Every one of us can become a life member of Geeta Dhâm with a small contribution of only US$18. Members will have priority for enrollment to the Gurukul, accommodation at the cottage, admission to yoga sessions and access to private scholarships. Devotees will have the opportunity to sponsor a child for US$1 per day.
In the words of His Holiness Swami Hari Har Ji Maharaj,
"Each student graduating from Geeta Dhâm will be a mahapursha, a well-integrated personality. These students will help re-establish the moral and spiritual fiber of our society."

Eye Camp
Twice a year, Eye Camp will be held at Geeta Dhâm to help the needy with any eye ailment. This will include Cataract Surgery, Treatment for Glaucoma etc. Dr. Jagdish Sharma, a reputed neurologist from Houston, will provide the necessary guidance to set up and staff the Eye Camp.
Geeta Sandesh
Geeta Sandesh is a magazine published three times a year. The articles are by and large Spiritual and Religious in nature. They are contributed by any one with interest in the teachings of the Bhagavad Geeta. Select any of the following to see a sample:
