Hot play and hot days in Pittsburgh in August 98!  Most of the top players in the country were vying for the $6300 in prize money.  The air conditioning in the Greentree Racquet Club just couldn't handle the record 270 or so entries.  It did not stop the players from playing at a high level.

Dan Seemiller not only ran the event, he almost won the Open!  Losing at 18 in the 5th to David Zhuang in the semi-finals after taking down Jack Huang in the 1/4s, there were signs of the 10 time US Champion of old.  He did not neglect the tournament, though.  It was always paramount in his mind.  "I just want to make sure I haven't forgotten anything", he said in one manic phase on Saturday. The control desk was a hub of activity.

The work of the whole staff paid off.  Everyone had a good time and got to see great TT.  There were 32 tables in constant use.  Dave Sakai (Oros) even managed to sneak away from Donna and get a great workout for two days.  Cheng Yinghua (Oros) dominated both the Allstars and the Open, meeting David Zhuang in the finals both times.  He won 3-2 and 3-0.  The man is amazing.
