July 4th saw Sue continue her volunteering. For the last 7 years
she has portrayed Lady Liberty in parades and promotions all over
Houston. 2004 gave her the opportunity to bring
the Blood Bank
blood shortages into the spotlight. Especially around the
Independence Day holidays, the blood supply runs dangerously low.
There is little more patriotic a volunteer effort that one can do then
donate blood. Sue recognizes that our very liberties are
protected by those who often time are the most in need of that blood.
So she decided to use her notoriety to promote this healthy
activity. Alerting the Blood Bank that she was coming also gave
the heads up to the TV stations who showed up to cover the story.
Both Sue and Terry have become frequent donors over the years and both
were covered by the cameras. Giving blood is easy and
painless. There is no synthetic substitute for human blood.
Without donors, we are in trouble!
You can watch the very good piece that TV did on the story
