Nathan A. Wilson, 64, a farmer of Route 3 died at a local hospital at 1:30 a.m. today. A resident of Nueces County for the past 25 years, he was a native of Rockdale, Texas. Funeral arrangements under direction of Peel-Jackson Funeral Home are incomplete. Survivors include his wife; four sons: Gussie, Johnnie, and Woodrow of Corpus Christi and Archie Wilson of San Antonio; one daughter, Mrs. C. H. Bigler of Corpus Christi; two stepsons: Billie Gold, of Corpus Christi, and Louis Shaper, with the Navy in Boston, Mass; one stepdaughter Mrs. Dorothy Lanmon, of New Jersey; three sisters, Mrs. A. A. Edna married Henry Frank BISHOP [image] son of George Washington BISHOP and Mary Clementine BROOKS on 8 Apr 1906 in Gatesville, TX. Henry was born on 27 Feb 1887 in Wolfe County, KY. He died on 6 Dec 1964 in Gatesville, TX. He was buried in Anton, Hockley County, TX.

Henry Franklin Bishop and Edna Spradley Bishop moved Slayton, Lubbock County, TX in 1920 and later moved to Anton, Hockley County, Texas in the early 1920s and farmed for a while. Eventually Frank dug the first water well in the area, and then successfully dug deeper with a 'spudder' rig to get enough water to irrigate a 'truck farm'. He decided that 'drilling' wells was probably a good business to get into. From that time on he was a water well driller, as well as a farmer. His sons were also in the water well drilling business for many years. Frank and Edna moved back to Coryell County in later years. Frank died in Coryell County and was buried in Anton. Edna then moved back to Anton and lived there the rest of her life.

269. Augusta Claude SPRADLEY [image] (Augustus D. , Bryant Eugene , Bryant , James , Bryant , Andrew ) was born on 28 Jul 1893 in Lee County, Tx. He died on 17 Jan 1984 in Levita, Coryell co., TX.

Claude was garage proprietor, a welder and mechanic. In 1912 he was living temporarily with John Ernest Spradley and Lula Florence Ponton (parents of B.Elmer Spradley). A story was told that Claude and a neighbor went wolf hunting and trapped a wolf. They brought the catch home, tied and muzzled, in a cotton wagon. As they came down the street Claude was singing "you great big beautiful doll" from the back of the wagon.

Augusta married (1) Jimmie Dale FOUST [image] on 25 Feb 1915 in Turnersville, TX. Jimmie was born on 13 May 1897. She died on 17 Feb 1967 in Gatesville, TX.

Augusta married (2) Frankie MILNER daughter of I. W. MILNER and Nancy JONES in Turnersville, TX. Frankie was born on 23 Jun 1888 in Milam County, TX. She died in May 1981.

She was reared in Coryell County, attending school at Humes and Turnersville. She became a member of the Presbyterian Church in Turnersville in 1909 and taught a Sunday School class there for many years.She was married to W. W. Mangum on July 19, 1910, and they made their home in the Turnersville community, Mr. Mangum died in 1967. She was married to A. C. Spradley on Jan. 9, 1968. "There was an outstanding quality, that our Frankie had; that of being a walking history book of all Coryell County." a family member said. "Her
amazing memory of dates, names and places will never be forgotten by all her loved ones and, indeed, the entire community. She was invaluable as a source of information for facts and anecdotes concerning the communities
of Turnersville, Pancake, Humes, Buster, Prairie view, Hurst Springs, White Hall and Mount Zion. She requested that her lifelong collection of newspaper clippings be donated to the Gatesville Public Lihbrary." Mrs. Spradley is survived by her husband; one son, Granvile H. Mangum of Clifton; a step-son Weldon Spradley of Angleton; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Another son, Hildreth Mangum, died in 1979. Pallbearers for Mrs. Spradley's funeral were Bob Mathews, Rusty Mathews, Paul Mangum, Herman Foust, Paul Schwalbe and Sonny Foote.

"Hoot" grew up in Collin Co., TX. Moved to Dallas, TX soon after getting married, and worked for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company for many years. They also lived later in Arlington, TX. He changed jobs and worked as a plumber for 15 years and retired August 31, 1971. They then moved back to Collin County.
