Program for the Evening

Dave Landry was our speaker for the August 2005 meeting, and for our June 2008 meeting last month. Both time and technology got to us last month, and Dave was unable to do the live chart portion he had planned. He offered to come back to finish up, so we're going to have Dave do a quick summary of the PowerPoint portion of the presentation and move quickly into the live chart show, remotely from New Orleans.

Dave is a CTA (Commodity Trading Advisor); President of Sentive Trading, LLC; Advisor to Harvest Capital Management, Inc. (a hedge fund); co-founder and prior contributor to TradingMarkets.com; and author of two books on trading, "Dave Landry On Swing Trading" and "Dave Landry's 10 Best Patterns and Strategies." Dave has written articles for various trading publications, has made appearances on Bloomberg TV, and has spoken at trading conferences both nationally and internationally. He broadcasts a daily audio/visual: “The Market In A Minute” at his website. Dave also publishes a daily trading service. Dave hosts a weekly TC Platinum chart show: “The Week In Charts” on Thursday's at 10:00 AM CT. On TC Platinum he runs the "Dave Landry Members" club (open and free to all, email Dave for a password).

In Dave's presentation he will introduce us to momentum based swing to intermediate-term trading. Although the emphasis is on timing stocks for the shorter-to-intermediate-term, he will show how these techniques can be used regardless of the market (stocks, Forex, commodities) or time frame (from the day trader to “buy and hold”). Dave will discuss the three phases of trends and several of his favorite patterns to help capitalize on them. He will also discuss how he scans with TC. Without risk control and discipline, even the best methodology is doomed. So Dave says he'll touch on basic money management and the psychology of living with our trading decisions.

I've asked Dave if he could structure some kind of intro special for us, for those who may want to try his fee services. Dave has very graciously provided two more items for door prizes, and they may be more valuable than his first book that Kevin won at the last meeting. The first is three months of his trading service, a $445 retail value, for free. The second is 3 1/2 months of his service for $99, which is an 80% discount from his normal monthly rate.

HAL-PC Location and Directions

Map to HAL-PC.http://www.hal-pc.org/map.html

HAL-PC is located between the San Felipe and South Post Oak Blvd. exits on the 610 west loop, just inside the loop. The address is 4543 Post Oak Place Dr. For me, the simplest route is to go east onto San Felipe from the 610 West Loop. At the second light (not counting the one at the service road), turn left onto Briar Oaks (it's a different name if you were to go right, and there's a street sign on the overhanging traffic light). Take Briar Oaks until it dead ends into Post Oak Place Drive, then right.

HAL-PC is at the end of the Post Oak Place Drive cul-de-sac where you can turn right to go up the ramp to park outside, or to the back of the cul-de-sac and down the ramp to park underground.

We're on the second floor, exiting right from the elevator, then left into the double glass doors. We meet in room SIG-B. There's someone at the desk who can direct you once you enter the HAL-PC suite through the double doors.

HAL-PC has implemented a new entrance policy. After 6:00 PM, your HAL-PC card will be needed to open the door to the suite. If you are a visitor, please signal the attendant at the desk you need access, and please make sure to sign the guest register at his desk.
